Renminbi
The renminbi is the official currency of the People’s Republic of China.The yuan (sign: ¥) is the basic unit of the renminbi and the ISO code for it is CNY.The renminbi is legal tender in mainland China, and can be accepted in Hong Kong and Macau.
People's Bank of China began in 1948 to issue a unified currency for use in Communist-controlled territories in the latter part of the Chinese Civil War, and  this currency was identified by names "People's Currency", or "renminbi", from June 1949. In recent years, as a result of the rapid internationalization of the renminbi, it has become the world's 8th most traded currency.
