set the record for the highest price ever paid for a rough diamond in February 2010 when it was sold for $35.3m (¡ê23m) to a Hong Kong jeweller. Petra Diamonds mined the stone in 2009 at their Cullinan Diamond Mine (formerly the Premier Mine) in South Africa.

The Oppenheimer Diamond, a nearly perfectly formed 253.7 carat (50.74 g) yellow diamond crystal, is one of the largest uncut diamonds in the world. It measures approximately 20 ¡Á 20 millimeters. It was discovered in the Dutoitspan Mine, Kimberley, South Africa, in 1964.
